Cal y Canto teatro

Cal y canto Teatro is created in 2002. Their personal aesthetics, especially in street theatre, is the result of the bet of the founding members, Ana Ortega and Marcos Castro, for a work of own creation.

The plays by Cal y Canto Teatro have been performed in renowned festivals around the world: Spain, Poland, Canada, Taiwan, South Korea, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Colombia, Israel…

In the creative evolution of Cal y Canto Teatro, their productions have invented new languages, surprising the audience. Among them, it is remarkable their investigation on kites world, where they have created their own imaginary.

The name of the company refers to an artistic confinement (“cerrado a cal y canto” means “closed under lock and key” in Spanish), that ends in a new production.

In the career of Cal y Canto, more than ten years long, the company has performed in dozens of European cities and participated in renowned International Festivals around the world.
