About us
Quique Méndez is a clown, circus artist and theatre creator.
He is self-taught, having learnt through experimentation and discovery under the guidance of various trainers and performing artists with international experience.
In 2010, he began his solo career as Jean Philippe Kikolas; since then, he has developed a series of shows in which the poetic element takes centre stage, expressed through the universal language of the clown, fusing dramaturgy, visual arts and physical theatre with a melting pot of circus techniques.
Through continuous training and a constant search for new approaches, Jean Philippe Kikolas develops his creations based on the narrative of action and suggestion, expressing himself through objects, the body and silences rather than words, to construct a language of his own that has enabled him to cross borders at various fairs and festivals in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands and many other countries around the world.
Jean Philippe Kikolas is committed to reinterpreting the classical through the contemporary lens of the circus and the performing arts, reclaiming performance spaces such as squares, big tops and travelling troupes as part of his approach to bringing the tradition of travelling art into the present day. Building on this initiative, which shapes an entire approach to creating, distributing and exhibiting, the company establishes its own identity and that of all its works.
